I do not know what goes through your mind when you think of a child with disabilities. I was never in your position. I see things from the inside, when you turn them around and try to understand. I constantly see texts about these children. Most of them make me sad. Every time I read something, I feel a cuff of injustice hitting me. I think I look at it from another perspective. Everyone who has grown up or lived with children with special needs feels it. So let's put them in a row.
1. Children with disabilities are like all of us. Which means they feel like all of us. They are angry, sad, happy, loving, amused, like all of us. What most of us suffer from is positive emotions. That is, they rejoice more. They love more. They have more fun. So, they are luckier beings than us. And also, since they feel the beautiful emotions of life to the fullest, they are a little different from all of us. They are better beings than all of us.
Why? It's easy. Their logic does not work more than their emotion. This makes them enjoy life like no other. They do not put barriers. Neither should. Nor do they weigh things. They do what they feel, they say what they feel (Philosophical questions in the style of "logic or emotion" have just been answered by the luckiest children of all. Children with disabilities).
2. Children with disabilities never expect to get anything behind what they give. When you do not expect to receive, you are already free. The rest of us struggle to count the incoming and outgoing. "To give without waiting to get anything back" the great teachers teach us. Wisdom is not this? So children with disabilities are already wise people.
3. Children with special needs are happy with a few simple things. With a walk. With a hug. At a glance. With a kiss. With nature. The sea. The mountain. With a leaf from the tree. With a shell. With loved ones next to them. Nothing more.
4. Children with special needs act without conditions. Without compromises. They do whatever comes to mind, without thinking a second time. Spontaneity and impulsivity are their second nature. If they want to get a sweet, they will reach out and get it. They will not think "should? Should not;". If they want to be happy, they will applaud. So. Because they like it. They will not think about what others will say. They are not compatible with the standards of life. Why do it? We all struggle to find the childhood we have been missing for years. These children have it innate. So, it's until irreconcilable young people grow old.
5. Children with disabilities do not understand any of us. I mean our dress. If this is not their biggest asset, what is? They do not understand why we run like crazy. Because we are forced to make money. Because we want five mobile phones. Why do we need two closets of clothes. Why do we go to the bank. Because we argue with each other.
They understand only one thing. They understand very well, which of us is a good person and which is not. They understand our condition and even judge it by their dress. Yes. They try to transmit goodness to us by wearing them. Do not ask me how this is done, I will have to write for days. They have their way. They have the spark to do it with simple steps that you understand when you spend time with them. So they are very smart people.
6. Children with special needs have a kind of highest tenderness that no one else has. They hug differently. They kiss differently. They caress differently. You feel it. It is the energy of goodness that pervades you. The greatest, insurmountable love that you feel differently as energy, as soon as they touch you. It's something like the parent protection filter. You fill up when they caress you. Completely. So they are charismatic people.
In summary, what do we have? Children with special needs are: better beings than all of us, wise people, happy people, irreconcilable young people, smart people, charismatic people. The next time you come across a text that says how weak creatures they are, skip it. Children with disabilities have no need of us. We are in dire need of them. Approach them and you will see it for yourself or rather, you will feel it for yourself. They teach knowledge. The authentic. That of life. She.
