It is known that among all students in the country there are students with special skills and students with special educational needs. Students who have significant difficulty in learning and adapting due to peculiarities (physical, mental, psychological, emotional and social). Their learning is hindered because they have lost their light and do not see or see little or have severe hearing problems.
Some students are unable to walk, use their hands or have serious health problems and spend a long period of their lives in hospital beds. At times all of these children were described as problematic, maladapted, special. Students with disabilities and students with special educational needs are neither patients nor people with disabilities. They are infants, children, young people, students with rights to education, work and life.
Laughter, play, joy, carefreeness are a right and a need for all children. It is also a right to have a planned care for the possibility of equal opportunities for all students, equal opportunities for all our students to develop their abilities and definitely to apply the fundamental requirement of society: "to be accepted as you are, and to coexist with others ".
To "coexist" means that all students need to develop mutual relationships and friendships to feel responsible for themselves and for others. Also, to exchange experiences with each other, to learn to help and cooperate, to understand but also to accept the "difference". Only in this way will students with disabilities and students with special educational needs be able to cross the wall of alienation, loneliness, rejection, uselessness, the wall of frustration, humiliation, indifference, the daily suffering of their own and their family.
Modern schools therefore need to provide education for students with disabilities and students with special educational needs in order to:* the development of their personality* improving their abilities and skills* the possibility of integration and coexistence with society as a whole* their acceptance by others and their equal social development. We all need, personally, collectively, state, global, to put into practice "I participate", "I am included", "I coexist", "I accept diversity". Otherwise, it will be at least a mockery to talk about equal opportunities, participation, integration while students with disabilities remain "invisible" in a society that does not provide them with knowledge participation.
So when the soul gives love, more than the surplus, work, with knowledge and specialization and joy then the disability is fixed and the words of the great Special Educator Roza Imbrioti come to our mind: "The work of protecting and educating weak children deepens the human soul and raises the level of humanity."
